WORD ON THE STREET: Senior big man Nic Rios recently enrolled at Laingsburgh High School and should be eligible for his final season after returning to Michigan to live with his mother. Rios, now 6-7 and 250 pounds, had been a member of the varsity team before moving to live with his father in upstate New York.

Ben Simons, coming off a solid performance in his first collegiate game, poured in 24 points against Iowa State Tuesday night. Dominique Buckley, a standout in Michigan’s MEGA Conference, is a sophomore at Iowa State. He played only two minutes in the game. Buckley was among the finalists for the Mr. Basketball award in 2008.

Damon Franklin, former standout at Flint Northwestern, played his sophomore season at Mott Community College after playing at division one Texas Pan-American.
