Who could have predicted this one?
On paper it looked like the Pinconning boys basketball team was in for a quick playoff exit at the hands Class B’s No.5 state ranked team Bridgeport Monday. But basketball games aren’t played on paper they are played on a basketball court and the hosting Spartans sent the Bearcats packing 50-43.
Despite Pinconning’s impressive record (17-4), this will probably go down as the biggest upset of this year’s district playoffs. Keep in mind that Bridgeport scored wins over Flint Carman-Ainsworth, Flint Powers and Shepherd this season.

The last third of their season was kaput. Lacked pizazz.
March Madness at it’s best!
Yeah. You gotta love it!
Whoever wrote that lede you quoted is one hell of a wordsmith.
Never saw this one coming, especially after Pinconning only beat an average, at best, Reese team by five points, 55-50.
Gotta love March Madness!
Not unlike Bridgeport. Their weakness showed in games with Shepherd and Ithaca. With their talent, Bridgeport ought to have dominated both teams. Bridgeport could be a Buena Vista.
Bridgeport already is BV in one regard — both are amongst the top 10 easiest schools to get to.
Ha…yeah about a seven iron from the expressway.
BP always has a hard time against big and long teams that play a 2-3 zone. Shot 19% from the field. BP is not a great shooting team and had good looks. Down 21-6 2 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Feel bad for my favorite team. The 4 seniors all had bad nights and the role players did not pick it up. By the way BP never wants to be like BV! Who would? Eventhough BP could be Class C in a year or two. BP and BV again in the districts? Would have to play the games @ 3 in the afternoon again!
