DANVILLE, Illinois — The Skippers of St. Clair fell in the opening round of the NJCAA nationals this afternoon, 78-70, to Lewis and Clark Community College.
Freshman James Bethea led the Skippers with 15 points. Sophomores Jake Stark and Marquis Lee added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
The Skippers’ undoing was perimeter shooting. They shot 18 percent from 3-point range and their top scorer, Kieon Arkwright, was held to five points. The Skippers’ man in the middle, 6-6 freshman Terrance Keaton, picked up his third foul just 10 minutes in to theĀ game.
The Skippers will play at least one more game in the losers’ bracket.

Tough loss, but hopefully they’ll bounce back in their next game. Just shows you how important it is to shoot well. If they had just made only three more 3-pointers, they would have won by a point. Shooting 18% from the outside is too tough to overcome.
That’s too bad! Poor shooting killed HFCC last year as well. In basketball, you can do everything else right, but if you don’t make the shot, you don’t win! Hopefully GRCC has better luck tomorrow!
So if SC4 wins entire losers bracket out what would they be playing for? Like what place I should say
If they win the rest they can get 7th place the way the tourney is set up. Go here for the bracketology:
