FLINT, Michigan — Tryouts for the Mid-Michigan Lakers will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 29, at Mott Community College in Flint. The tryouts should last no more than two hours.
The tryouts are $10 and open to all student-athletes ages 14-18. This season, like last, we will be offering three teams: U-15, U-16 and U-17.
The cost for a roster spot is $400 again this season. The cost includes practice time, uniform and at least 6-7 tournaments. Small scholarships have been extended to players in the past who have demonstrated need.

how mant tourneys did you guys win last year in the 15 and 17u?
Don’t get that question! Aren’t YOU playing to create a wave? Or are you playing to ride a wave someone else created?? It doesn’t matter how many game are won the previous year. The only things that matters in summer travel ball is 1)what tournaments are you going to, and 2) does the coach believe in fundamentals training/coaching over X’s and O’s, and 3) your own evaluation of if you’ll get solid floor time against the roster. Fellas, fellas, fellas, as long as you got a good coach and some hustling teammates, you’re always better off to be on a worse team and PLAY AGAINST a better team, where your play is the difference maker, so you get better!
Our U-15 team wasn’t very competitive last summer. We had a couple really good players, but we were young (even for a U-15 team).
Our U-17 team was competitive, but we didn’t win any tournaments. We lost to the Michigan Mavericks at the buzzer in Toledo — that kind of epitomized our season.
Hopefully we’ll be better this year, but who knows? It’s an opportunity.
Can’t wait for this year. Going hard in tryout’s to redeem a spot. And going even harder in the Tourney’s.
Looking forward to seeing you Brandon.
You too. I’ll be ready to show you all i improved.
