Buctown sophomore-to-be Monte Morris has captured the attention of coaches from at least two major conference programs after strong performances at the Super Sophomore Camp in Cleveland. Morris reportedly inspired interest from both the University of Iowa and Georgetown. Morris is a 6-0 guard prospect with tremendous upside. He’s a proficient shooter and scorer with even broader potential as a defender. Many in the Flint area consider Morris to be the top player in the 2013 class, alongside East Lansing’s Steve Haney, Lansing Eastern’s Charles “Cha Cha” Tucker and Flint Carman-Ainsworth’s Denzel Watts.

He is very good and fun to watch!
It will be interesting to see if the Bucs can dethrone Goodrich in the GAC Red this year.
If people are comparing him to Tucker and Haney, he must be pretty good!
I need to get to see a Beecher game this year.
For sure. He’s as poised and efficient as I’ve seen for a guard at that age.
His composure for such a young player is what separates him in my mind…nothing rattles him.
Monte Morris is head and shoulders above all the Flint area class of 2013 ballers. His Basketball IQ is off the charts for such a young player. He is wise beyond his years and this carries over off the court as well!
I hope that means he has common sense and realizes that his college education (that it sounds certain he will be offered barring injury or foolish acts that make coaches stay away from him) will be a path to a better life.
I’m eager to see him play.
Tucker was another freshman with great composure. (I never saw Haney in close games, but he did not seem like one to lose his composure either.)
“say no more monte morris’s game is off the chart if that boy don’t hit the league something wrong, just keep your composure monte and watch the people you hang around and you will be one of the best the game has ever seen.
He’ll be playing this week at The Cage, with Team Detroit.
