FLINT, Michigan — The first player signed in Mott Community College’s 2012 class led all scorers in the Bruin Club Classic on Thursday night in Flint. Antuan Burks, Flint Beecher standout, scored 23 points including four 3-pointers. It wasn’t enough, however, as two of the Flint Metro League’s finest showed out in the second half.
Holly’s Jared Plawski and Fenton’s Dylan Hickoff scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, as the Black (suburban) squad beat the Gold (city) squad 87-78.
The game is played annually to showcase the Flint area’s top seniors.
Other standouts included Flint Northern’s Darius Toins, Flint Northwestern’s Roderick Adair and Clio’s Zach Borowski. The latter is a very impressive point guard who, unlike a few former Mustangs who have played in this game, didn’t look out of place one bit.
I couldn’t help but to think how different this game would have been with Anton Wilson and Javontae Hawkins (both transferred out of Flint to prep schools and will play D-1) on the rosters. At any rate, next year we will have no fewer than four D-1 players in this game.

Way to rep Buctown one last time!
