FLINT, Michigan — No. 4-ranked Mott Community College improved to 10-1 on the season with a blowout win over Daley College (Chicago) Saturday afternoon, 67-39. This game left little to the imagination as Daley only had six players make the trip because of injury and academic issues. Daley led 2-0 to start the game and never led again.
The Bears’ leading scorer, Fred Mattison, led all scorers with 20 points and five rebounds. His cousin, Chavis Mattison, chipped in with 11 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The only other Bear in double figures was freshman Malik Albert with 10. Jeremy Price led Daley will 16 points on 5-for-18 from the floor.
Mott led by 14 points at the break and held Daley to three points in the first eight minutes of the second half.
Every player played at least 12 minutes for Mott. The Bears forced 22 turnovers and committed only 10 in the game.
The Bears will return to action at 3 p.m. next Saturday on the road at Delta College in the first game of the conference season. The next home game comes the following Monday at home versus rival Henry Ford.
