November 25, 2009 at 11:00 am
Jared,
I like the changes to this web site as well as all of the articles. Keep up the good work!

theres a kid from davison, michigan kyle kuzma hes going to be a stud this year
December 1, 2009 at 6:46 am
Is he playing varsity?
December 2, 2009 at 9:11 pm
no davisons varsity is stacked at the guard position so he plays jv. last year he average 28 point per game.
December 3, 2009 at 6:34 pm
more like eleven and if he was averaging 28 points hed be on varsity regardless just to develop him quicker
December 3, 2009 at 9:47 pm
just keep a eye one him i think hes going to be special.
January 6, 2010 at 9:08 pm
You must be joking….he only averaged like 8 last year at atherton and… Erick Layton who is at Flushing this year averaged like 28
January 7, 2010 at 8:34 am
yeah too bad he’s not on jv, he’s on freshmen. and i highly doubt he averaged 28 a game because he barely averages 5 on FRESHMEN
January 7, 2010 at 12:47 pm
Davison stacked? Ummm…no
January 7, 2010 at 2:18 pm
Kids a bum, you must be his pappy.
January 7, 2010 at 2:16 pm
We waxed Davison, not one kid even stood out. Couldn’t even tell you who this kid is cause the whole team blew. WOW, TARD.
January 7, 2010 at 8:08 pm
im betting your team is either east lansing or powers because davison freshmen lost to both of them by at least 30
January 7, 2010 at 2:17 pm
DITTO!
November 27, 2009 at 1:32 pm
How good do you think Flint powers will be
November 28, 2009 at 12:50 am
Anything less than a state title in B will be a disappointment. I’m worried about their post presence or lack thereof. Anderson did a lot for them last year.
January 30, 2010 at 10:27 am
Im not sure, losing Moreland hurts but with PLP and O’Brien, they’re gonna be tough to beat still.
December 1, 2009 at 9:10 am
When will the other league previews be up?
December 1, 2009 at 1:36 pm
I hope we can get this message board up and running. It’d be delightful.
December 3, 2009 at 3:02 pm
I plan to come to Flint on Saturday to watch Mott play Grand Rapids CC. Do you have any info on GRCC?
December 3, 2009 at 3:59 pm
They aren’t very good, in spite of their 4-1 record. They haven’t played anyone.
That being said, GRCC always seems to play Mott tough.
December 3, 2009 at 7:22 pm
Gabe Rivera is very good for GRCC, will likely be fastest guard out there. Why is Jason Pratt playing hoops and not football there — or is he doing both?
December 3, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Pratt is on the football roster, but doesn’t have an assigned number. That’s probably not a good sign.
December 3, 2009 at 9:02 pm
Maybe they wanted to get him two years to play — GRCC had an All-American QB ahead of him. I bet Pratt ends up D1 as well playing for Tony Anesse.
December 4, 2009 at 3:02 pm
Is the Brad Balkema who’s on the Macomb CC roster the same guy who played for them two seasons ago, or is it his younger brother? I remember watching him play and he was listed as 6″7″ and 300+ lbs., but the younger brother was supposedly taller.
December 4, 2009 at 5:51 pm
What will be the best game tuesday in the area and who should win that game
December 4, 2009 at 6:07 pm
I like Powers and Flint NW. Powers should win, but it’s always a good game.
December 6, 2009 at 10:12 pm
I was pretty impressed with Grand Rapids CC on Saturday. They really took it to Mott before falling at the end. If Mott can reduce their ballhandling mistakes, they should go a long way this year. And yes, Doug Anderson is something else.
December 11, 2009 at 4:46 pm
I posted 2 years ago on Bell’s site that I thought Kampe had under achieved. What happened last night in East Lansing? I know Kampe doesn’t play but Oakland looked flat. What’s going on and will they win the Summit?
December 12, 2009 at 2:51 am
Wouldn’t surprise me. Weak league.
December 13, 2009 at 1:31 pm
We’re all still waiting on them preview
December 15, 2009 at 5:41 pm
Watching Kampe’s interviews I realize he wasn’t pleased with his teams inability to compete. I just would like to see Oakland take the step that U of D took when they became a mainstay in the NCAA and defeated UCLA. I’m sure that we know Izzo is -3 versus U of D. The stage was set and the recruits were in place for big things but it hasn’t happened.
December 18, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Everyone needs to see this story. It’s heartbreaking, somewhat.

December 23, 2009 at 2:05 pm
GLH, any details on the Saginaw High vs Hill game being played on Jan 2? I heard its been moved to SVSU? Are tickets going to be sold at the door?
January 6, 2010 at 1:36 pm
What happened to Mott last night in Alpena. I read the Alpena News online and the Bears only won by 8 points. The article said that Alpena stayed in a tough zone defense and made Mott shoot lots of outside shots. The box score didn’t list Doug Anderson for Mott – did he not play? If so, why?
January 6, 2010 at 1:38 pm
Anderson was sick and did not play. They were without their starting point guard, Miller, as well. He was held out for missing practice.
January 6, 2010 at 3:03 pm
Thanks for the info, Jared. Have you seen or scouted Henry Ford CC and Oakland CC? What’s your thoughts on who will be champion this year – Mott or one of those two teams?
January 6, 2010 at 3:21 pm
Mott has the most talent, but they are almost all freshmen.
I could see Henry Ford and Mott splitting in the regular season. I think Oakland is a paper tiger.
All bets are off in the postseason. Mott is much better defensively than HFCC, but they’ve also been inconsistent offensively.
January 9, 2010 at 7:12 pm
Wow, I guess Henry Ford CC is for real. I thought that they might slip a little bit from last year after losing Willie Mustin to graduation. But it looks like they’re a legitimate championship contender. It will be interesting to see how Mott performs in the rematch game.
January 9, 2010 at 11:16 pm
hey jared,
when will mid michigan lakers 15u have tryouts.
January 9, 2010 at 11:36 pm
Probably right around April 1st.
January 10, 2010 at 4:42 pm
Noopy Crater debuted today versus Syracuse. 0-6 shooting, 2 assists, 2 turnovers against the #7 team in the country. USF was game in the second half though.
January 11, 2010 at 4:35 pm
Jared,
Do you still think Mott “has the most talent”? HFCC’s two best offensive players (Stewart and Moon) had average games at best and it was still a route?
What do you see happening on the rematch on February 10th at Mott?
January 12, 2010 at 9:33 am
Yes I do, but that’s probably hurting them right now. HFCC plays like a team, plays really hard and has top-tier talent.
I’d be crazy to think Mott is going to win in the rematch, but I’m certain it will be a better game. I think their turnover issue will be solved, at least in part, with the return of their starting PG.
January 12, 2010 at 11:08 am
When will the new set of bleachers be installed at Mott?
January 12, 2010 at 12:11 pm
It’s supposed to happen this month.
January 16, 2010 at 9:07 pm
Here’s some midway JuCo discussion:

January 19, 2010 at 2:11 pm
I’m anxious to see how tomorrow’s game between Mott CC and SC4 turns out. The Skippers have a nice team this year although I haven’t seen them play in person. They usually have a good team, just not quite on the same level as the Bears. Hopefully it will be a good game between my two favorite MCCAA teams.
January 21, 2010 at 1:15 pm
I’m really sorry now that I couldn’t make it to last night’s game. But I will be at the rematch in Port Huron on February 20th. Hopefully Doug Anderson doesn’t break one of the backboards that night, but I’m sure that Coach Vos is making a contingency plan in case it’s needed.
January 27, 2010 at 2:13 pm
This week Henry Ford CC is ranked #1 and Mott #6 in the NJCAA Division II national poll. Glen Oaks CC is listed at #11 and SC4 received honorable mention, giving the MCCAA a total of four teams in the poll.
January 30, 2010 at 9:13 pm
I just read that SC4 upset #1 ranked Henry Ford CC by the score of 76-72 (at HFCC). I can’t wait to read the details in tomorrow’s paper.
February 1, 2010 at 3:18 pm
Big upset, and really sets the stage for … Henry Ford CC vs Flint Mott CC, which is now the JuCoLand Game of the Year:

February 3, 2010 at 1:29 am
Tommie McCune is playing very well right now. Any idea where he will end up?
February 6, 2010 at 9:12 am
Is the GAC a stronger conference than the City this year? Hamady over SWA and Beecher over Northwestern. Goodrich who beat Beecher by 25 points plays both SWA and Northwestern later in the month and looks to be the favorite. Who could ever imagine the GAC possibly going 4-0 against the City teams?
February 6, 2010 at 5:55 pm
Northern beat Beecher earlier in the year and Northwestern beat them in OT in the Coca Cola Classic, so the GAC still has an advantage, but they aren’t unbeaten vs. the city.
February 6, 2010 at 10:14 pm
There is a reason why most teams from the GAC, to include Hamady, run from games versus the city.
February 7, 2010 at 10:01 am
any thoughts on the SWA / Goodrich game on Tuesday?
February 7, 2010 at 10:37 am
SWA os in a very down year, so this will be one that is interesting. Goodruch us probably too big inside though. Also, SWA guards Josh Young and Chuck McLarin are nursing injuries that may slow them. Toss up game in my opinion, but that opinion is not complete because I haven’t seen Goodrich in person this year.
February 14, 2010 at 10:28 am
Mitch Vallie had a huge performance last night in Goodrich’s 60-46 win over SWA. He was the best player on the floor ….. I don’t hear his name mentioned very often when ranking the top players in the area.
February 7, 2010 at 10:37 am
Ok “os” should be “is”.
February 9, 2010 at 5:04 pm
yea even though goodrich blewout davison, they stilled struggled alot in the first half
February 15, 2010 at 1:14 pm
I meant to ask this question earlier – why isn’t Wayne County CC competing this year? I heard that they were on some kind of probation due to recruiting violations. Will they be back in the league next year?
February 15, 2010 at 1:39 pm
I think they closed the campus where they played. It was a dump.
February 17, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Put on another show last night…scored 24 in an upset over Grand Ledge and Jon Horford. Was on fire and scored from 3, mid range, the line, in traffic.
February 17, 2010 at 4:23 pm
You are talking about Haney…I saw him at Eastern. He dropped like 30. Hit a 3 I swear near the jump ball circle
February 18, 2010 at 10:23 pm
I think the 9th grade point gaurd at Beecher is the most polished and he has an extremely high b-ball IQ.
February 21, 2010 at 10:48 pm
I enjoyed the game on Saturday between Mott and SC4. The Skippers played hard, but came up short, as usual, against the Bears. Monday’s game between Mott and Oakland ought to be a really good one. Oakland is coming on strong lately, as evidenced by their win over Henry Ford on Saturday. Mott has the regular season title locked up, but the playoffs will be a battle. Mott certainly is the favorite, but anything can happen, just like last year.
February 23, 2010 at 12:09 am
FYI, Terrance Tubbs didn’t play for HFCC, kudos to OCC for a good road win.
February 23, 2010 at 8:13 am
What happened to Tubbs?
February 23, 2010 at 2:39 pm
Not sure but he didn’t look injured. Ill see what I can find out. Knowing the staff at HFCC I’m sure it was discipline orientated and he’ll probably be a better player/person because of the lesson.
February 26, 2010 at 1:37 pm
What happened to Henry Ford CC? I just saw on the MCCAA web site that they now have 7 league losses and are in 4th or 5th place. Did they have to forfeit some games due to an ineligible player? That shakes up the standings and tournament seedings.
February 26, 2010 at 2:29 pm
I believe they had to forfeit four or five games because of an ineligible player.
March 1, 2010 at 6:27 pm
they are back in the tourney
March 5, 2010 at 10:35 am
Jared… are you going to have any analysis of the Powers/Goodrich game? It has to be the only District in the state that has 2 top 5 teams playing in the first game. Curious on everyones thoughts.
March 5, 2010 at 10:54 am
Yeah for sure. I just ran into Steve Moreland, Tyler and Shane’s dad, and he got me all pumped about it.

March 8, 2010 at 10:43 pm
Anyone see the Holly, Swartz Creek game tonight? Cocky coach Jeremy Trent didn’t have much to say after this one. His players weren’t dancing around like fools at half court, and he wasn’t struting around like a tough guy after this one. Good season coach, but don’t give a team fire power when you play them first game in the districts. Good luck next year.
March 9, 2010 at 8:20 am
Honestly. I don’t think Holly has much to say until they win a championship.
March 9, 2010 at 8:50 pm
Here is one thing they can say. We are still playing, and Swartz Creek is not. Do you have anything stupid to say about the cheap shot on Lovachis last night on another dunk attempt? This one was whistled intentional. I’m sure you saw it as a good hard foul. Why are you so in love with Swartz Creek, Russel Hope doesn’t play there any more?
March 9, 2010 at 9:38 pm
Yep. It was a good hard foul.
March 9, 2010 at 10:11 pm
I’ve said this before on another thread (directed at Murph), but agree or disagree with Jared’s opinions, at least he’s putting his name on them. You, on the other hand, are hiding behind a ridiculous screen name. Why not engage him in a conversation like an adult rather than the petty, anonymous and cowardly sniping?
March 9, 2010 at 11:19 pm
Hey, I like Russell….
March 10, 2010 at 12:47 pm
You want to talk about fools? Start at the top with Holly. Bayliss is the biggest clown I’ve ever seen on a sideline. Watch him vs. C/A Friday. He’ll be sitting when his team is getting blasted. That’s what he does. Biggest frontrunner I’ve ever seen.
March 16, 2010 at 11:51 am
I almost fell off my chair. An article about GRCC in the Grand Rapids Press.
http://www.mlive.com/smallcolleges/grandrapids/index.ssf/2010/03/grcc_assistants_experience_hel.html
March 16, 2010 at 1:43 pm
Ha. It’s about time.
March 30, 2010 at 8:57 pm
jared you gonna do your first team and bench for genesee county leagues and a little something about each player all of us enjoy that
March 31, 2010 at 10:26 pm
Just wondering but does anyone know when gurad rankings will be posted?
April 18, 2010 at 2:16 am
Jared where are Bobby Lewis and Deon Rice getting interest from, I remember Bobby having a very solid freshman year.
April 18, 2010 at 4:47 pm
Lewis: Some low D-1 interest.
Rice: D-2 interest.
April 22, 2010 at 4:05 pm
Are you GLH guys going to do a recruiting placement article on where the mid michigan fellas ended up per D1/D2/D3/NAIA/JuCo?? That’s be nice to see.
April 30, 2010 at 4:00 pm
I here Jordan Fields of Grand Blanc has been getting a lot of high division 1 looks after last season. I’ve gotten word on him getting some high interest by Florida and Indiana
May 6, 2010 at 6:41 pm
also Georgia U
May 6, 2010 at 2:27 pm
When will the message board actually be up and running?
