  • I strongly believe that Mr. Capus Robinson is one of the best players in the area. He was giving first team all conf. and also second team all area by flint journal. He can play the 3,4 and 5. He’s 6’4 240 and the most important part about his game is that he is very smart with the game. He should be highly ranking in the area

  • Coach James Johnson

One of the top basketball prospects around the area is 6’1 Senior Point Guard Roy Jackson at Flint Hamady Community High School. He has several Division 1 looks from the SEC and the Big East. He should be ranked very high in the 2010 class. He’s and legitimate prospect in the state of Michigan.

    • roy jackson again already here we go

      • IT IS WHAT IT IS

HOW CAN U SAY THAT WHEN LEAD HAMADY IN NOTHING…GUESS WHO DID…DOMINEZ BURNETT

      • Hamady doesnt have any stars, they can never make it out their districts 4 years straight. They have all individual players and no one plays like a team at Hamady. Dominez or Roy cant do nothing at the next level if they cant play team basketball

    • im not a basketball player but i know that he isnt good enough to play d1 ball. He has the height but there is nothing spectacular i see in his game.

  • Cole Darling. Enough said.

  • if demetrius miller and shane moreland didnt go sec or big east right out of high school, what on earth makes you think roy jackson will?

  • Roy’s a good player with nice potential. He’s not a division one player, but he has the potential to take the JUCO route to division one or two.

  • What do you think about Bridgeport this year? Heard Derrick Davis is a McDonald’s All-American candidate. He will not get in there but it’s still a honor.

    Thanks for your time.

    • Love Davis. He’s a true student-athlete and I hope he can play hoops at an Ivy League school.

    • Please I just saw this kid at the scrimmage against Midland Dow , and he didnt look like a Mcdonald all american on friday night. Bridgeport looked like a jv team out there. I must admit Darvin ham jr. looks solid , but who ever thinks that the Davis kid is a all american that is a real joke..

      • Well, certainly everyone can have an off night. I have seen him hold his own in games and camps so I gotta believe what I’ve seen over time. Not saying all-american though…

  • Marcellus C. Miller

Roy is a lot closer to the division 1 level than many peole may think. What will hurt him in that endeavor is the level of competitin that he has played against in high school. But he is a 6’2″ PG that is developing a nice shot, can pass, and has bounce. Now we have had some overkill on this site before, but don’t sleep on this kid either!

  • what does it look like in the gac blue here position by position what schools and kids will run the table

  • theres also great talent out in flushing this year…you guys are experts tell me what you think of their up coming roster Kiontae Brown Luke Siebt Andy Kujat and and two new from jv Dominique Marshall and Ja’qwan Stitt(former hamady jv player)

    • hahahah flushing wont win a big 9 game! and stop talking about these hamady players??, if you think your something special in bball, go play at powers or carman where real competition is played instead of these weak GAC goodrich hamady schedules

      • not everyone has the ability to pay the Powers $$$ or transfer to another school for athletics. Just because the size of their schools puts them in a smaller conference is not their fault. Those are 2 really good programs for the schools size. Just ask Grand Blanc…

      • IT IS WHAT IT IS

I AGREE WIT U BUT IT IS SOME OK PLAYER IN THE GAC AS FAR AS TALENT….THEY SAY HAMADY PLAY SW..IM JUS WANT 2 SEE IT 2 BELEAVE IT…LOL

  • flushing has the talent this year to beat big nine teams 2 out of three times that they play them……and players from hamady are good talent, its not there fault they are in a weak confrence talk to archie robinson about that one…….

  • Guard out at Flint Southwestern Underrated Player around can Score an Play with the best of them. This kid can go.One of the best 2 Guards around.

  • flushing big 9 record 2009-2010 = 0-9

  • The Name Is Jojuan Graham

  • Josh Young is a pretty darn good point guard as well.

  • For SWA, guards won’t be the problem…Graham and Young are both good, it will be the rest of the positions that will be question marks…

  • Class of 2010 the best player has to be Patrick O’Brien from powers catholic and overall best player in the flint area is Patrick Lucas-Perry

    • You’re talking class of 2010 in Flint-area I hope… and I know a few that may have a case against that.

      • lead their team to a state championship…who you got in mind?

      • are you kidding me cole darling alex guana theres two i would keep going but my hard drive space would run out by all the characters i would be using

      • Led his team? Really? I thought Lucas-Perry was doing that. Pat’s future is likely in football in my opinion. In fact, I would take NW’s Travon Mitchell over O’Brien right now, but that’s just if you want a 6’3″-6’4″ wing that can leap, shoot, and defend.

      • I said they lead their team to a championship he was like all star honorable mention… was trevor mitchell all state anything? pretty sure pat schooled him last year

      • All-State accolades largely has a lot to do with your name recognition, but I’m not saying Pat is bad by any stretch of the imagination. I have watched him play around the midwest in AAU annd during the season for the past two years now and know he can play. I simply will say just remember my words…

      • The moreland brothers and obrien turned the bball program around at powers. laval Lucas perry could never get his team out districts with players like Herzog, hickoff, wittbrodt. then they transfer over and powers makes 2 state finals appearences??? makes you think. PlP and obrien will both go first team all state. S moreland went 1st team all state 2 yrs in a row, so will Patrick lucas perry.

  • Now what about the classes of 2011 and 2012. They have some good players, who do you think will be the top 5 in their classes. Cause I heard about two 10th graders in the Genesse County who has a chance of going to D1 Colleges. Who are them? And a couple of juniors in the county like Lucas-Perry, Shaq Smith, and etc.

    • 2012 with D-1 potential in the Flint area are Javontae Hawkins (6’4″), Anton wilson (6’5″), Donald Fisher (6’6″- but only with a serious work ethic adjustment)

2011 with D-1 potential: Shaquille Smith (5’8″), Patrick Lucas-Perry (5’9″), Vincent Adams (5’10″- will likely have to JUCO first due to lack of playing time behind PLP and Demarco Sanders), Dominez Burnett (6’4″)

Those are just my opinion though

      • your telling me that Vincent Adams is D1 material?

      • He will be when his turn comes…like I said, may not be until after two years of JUCO and he grows into his frame, but he is a lefty, smooth shooter that has added some bounce. This assertion is based on potential…

      • dominez burnett is not a d1 prospect only a hustle player all his points come off fast breaks and put backs he has no low posts moves or presence

  • obrien is good but not the best, his team was loaded last year and your claiming he is the “ONE” who led the team….yeah ok. the best player next yr is going to be dee chapman

  • Where are the Moreland brothers playing this year? Can’t seem to find anything on them.

  • Demarco Sanders Is ranked at number 12 Why is that?

  • Demarco Sanders is way to low on the list

  • Another 2011 prospect that will go D-1 has to be Junior Guard A.J Mathew

  • Marcellus Miller

Demarco could certainly be higher on the list, but he also has some things to prove in a more pivotal role this year. I look for him to move up this list as the year goes. Like I said, it will be fluid.

  • Grand Blanc’s Junior Brandon Hill will be a good 2011 prospect, He is a good guard who can drive to the whole a finish with a strong layup or make a great pass to a teammate for the assist. This year should be exciting for the Bobcats.

    • I like Brandon’s game a lot. Is he at Grand Blanc now? He was at Northern last year.

      • Marcellus Miller

B-Hill is at GB now after transferring. If he has added the confidence to his game that he needed to, he will certainly be a contributing factor.

      • Yes, Brandon will need that confidence at Grand Blanc they have a tough schedule ahead of them, But he is a good guard and can take it to the whole off the dribble and get contact. Another thing he needs to work on is his jump shot and get stronger get that better and he will be a very good guard out of 2011. If he keep’s putting in the work he will get there he could even be a top Division 2 player.

  • Has anyone seen the young kid that plays for Midland Dow ? Man I seen this kid at the scrimmage at Flint Carmen Ainsworth this week and he is a good player on the rise to look at. He is a little thin but the kid is a true player. Seems like once he gets used to the Varsity level he is going to make some noise in the SVL Conference this season, and he is only a sophmore…

  • Some top guards in 2011 around Flint area to me are. Patrick Lucas-Perry (Powers), Shaquille Smith (Northern), Jaylen Magee (NW), Brandon Hill (Grand Blanc), Dre Parks (NW), Vincent Adams (Powers), Darius Wilson (IAF). They all have lots of talent and are my top in the flint area, No order.

    • Shaq Smith although a very good player is not a point guard. Nobody on Northern even moves the ball besides Coffer who is the their best pg. Smith is a undersized wing until somebody teaches him how to play the point.

      • Clearly you must have not seen Northern this year…

      • No, I have not seen Northern yet this year, but after seeing them a few times last year, I don’t really care to see them. Every time Shaq gets ball I hear Coach Tucker yell out ISO!!! the problem is the games I saw the opposing team was playin 1-3-1 zone…. so Shaq was goin on five due to his coach telling him… GREAT COACHING! I love Shaq’s game I just feel sorry for him. Northern had more talent than Northwestern last year and i don’t care what anyone says. Northwestern just has better coaching. And I am still waiting on your comment to why Antonio Smith is helping out at Northwestern instead of his Alma Mater Northern…

      • Well, last year Northern may have had more top to bottom talent, but that also was dependent on some serious youth as oppossed to the veteran NW squad. I can tell you that Northern’s coach NEVER yells ISO to anyone during a game, but I understand your point. I will say that a look at coaching is largely subjective and I would hesitate before I ranked NW’s coaching ahead of Northern’s, but without being in both practices, it would be very hard to judge. Don’t feel sorry for Shaq, he will be just fine though. As for Antonio, it was likely his long-time relationship with Lamont Torbert that led him to NW and not Northern where he helped out from time to time last year. That would be my guess…

  • Don’t sleep on Matt Frierson, the 6’2 senior guard poured in 26 points Tuesday night. He’s at a small school but probably one of the area’s best shooters and knows how to finish at the basket. He is a transfer from GB two years ago. Has a couple of D2 looks.

  • When is the ranking going to be up….. its been forever

  • Well Stitt is now at Flushing.

  • When are the rankings going up??

  • It’s funny how you say Northern had more talent than NW, I think Northern played them tougher than any school until they lost, to Clarkston. I believe NW had three players go on to play juco ball, Northern had one, No D-1 or D-2, and correct me if I wrong wasnt the best players that Northern had on the floor when they lost to NW. Funny how people can judge with no clue. People don’t know what goes on, with a team. And I beg to differ I think the Northern coaches get a lot out of what they have to work with.

  • This is for (It aint Right) correct me if I’m wrong the best players that Northern had was on the floor when they lost to NW. And I believe Northern played them closer than any other team until they lost, to Clarkston. Also, NW had three players go on to play JUCO ball, with two going to the highly regarded Mott program.
And Northern having one. Oh but more talent. You have the senior leadership that was displayed by NW and they were the differnence maker I believe.; So you may be right on the coaching but players make coaches, remember that.

    • Your opinion on the game of basketball is very skewed… Jomar Black was more talented than anybody on Northwestern’s roster last year. Northern was way more talented from top to bottom than Northwestern last year. Yes Trouser and Turner are at Mott this year and they are solid players, but as always the city school has talented players. The only reason why NW even went as far as they did is because those 3 sophomores played out of their minds the last few games of the season. I saw Northern play NW last year right before districts. Northern got waxed. Northern has no zone offense and if they do it’s the worst one I’ve ever seen. Your basketball IQ is awful. What do the coaches get out extra of the players at Northern? Most coaches would kill to have a talented team like that… Do you think about what your typing before you submit it? I will agree that leadership does make a huge difference in basketball and NW had very solid leadership last year and talent can make a lot of coaches look good, but northern lacks discipline and that is the reflection of the head coach. Mateen paid for Nothern’s last uniforms and they went and ordered his retired #24 and some kid wore it more than half the season… last time I checked when a number gets retired nobody wears it anymore… Antonio Smith wanted to help out at Northern, but he was disgusted with there practices because all they do is have open gym over half the time. I also have no respect for a coach who talks to the crowd during the national anthem. I also liked how you contradicted yourself too, “And I beg to differ I think the Northern coaches get a lot out of what they have to work with.” and then later saying, “So you may be right on the coaching but players make coaches, remember that.” you’re a genius….

  • I read a column in the freepress wed. about a sophmore from clarkston. Has anyone seen this kid play?

    • Yes I have seen him and he is pretty good. His name is Nick Tatu and is originally from Holly. He can shoot the rock fairly well, but is not a very good defender yet as he is still learning how Fife needs him to play both ends.

  • FROM A REAL COACHES POINT OF VIEW “RAHEEN DUDLEY” IS THE BEST FRESHMAN IN THE CITY OF FLINT MICHIGAN HE HIT 32 POINTS ON HIS OFF NIGHT HIS AVERGE IS 21.8 HE’S 5FOOT 11INCHES AND WEIGHTS 170POUNDS.HE SO ATHLETIC HE CAN PLAY ALL SPOTS ON THE FLOOR.HE CAN GO LEFT AND RIGHT AND HIS JUMP SHOT IS PURE.HE’S AN EXCALLENT PLAYER.HE’S THE BIG LOOK OUT FOR 2013

    • Ok…I actually like Raheen a lot as a player. However, please understand the stats are inflated based on the level of the freshman competition he is playing against. He is quite an accomplished football player and that is likely his calling. He can be good on the court as well, but to reference him as the “best freshman in the city” is very far-fatched at best.

      • I actually agree with u but he is a good player just to be a freshman and he have alot more talent then have of the kids his age in flint but there is alot of talent in flint and it’s alot of past averged freshmans in flint. If they were to be announced there would only be about 6 of them.:Richmond Lewis-flint northern,Raheen Dudley-flint northwestern,Monta Morris-beecher,Dewrell Tisdale-flint northern,Denzel Watts-carman-ainsworth ,and Eric Cooper-beecher…….And the crazy thing is all these guys played for the same Canusa team during the summer

    • I feel there are several very good Freshman ballers playing on varsity teams, but one is head and shoulders above the rest! He is starting 6′ foot point gaurd and the only Freshman in the top city wide scoring race. Monte Morris is the complete baller and not only is he scoring 16 pts per game, but also about 8 assist each nite!

    • best freshmen?? are u excluding monte morris who plays for beecher and a starting point guard and leads the team in ppg. raheen is playing at a freshmen level against other freshmen while monte morris is only 15 playing against guys at the varsity level twice his size and he is still one of the top scorers in the flint area

    • Ja’Qwan Stitt Look Him Up Coach, Serious Talent Just Needs A Chance

  • WHAT HAPPENED TO DURRIKEO HOLMES FROM SOUTHWESTERN 07/08 FRESHMAN TEAM? HE WAS RANKED ONE OF THE TOP GUARDS PLAYING FRESHMAN. ALSO SHOULD HAVE PLAYED VARSITY BUT BECAUSE OF EXPERIENCE WASNT ABLE. KEEP A LOOK OUT, THIS KID IS ABLE TO EXPLODE.

    • Hey Sid , Durrieko is coming off the bench for Beecher and doing a fine job! He has the quickness and ball handling ability to help break the press.

  • I think we should look at the small school talent, like fowlerville. for example, Jordan Gorshe is a 6’7 center that has great potential, and can play big in the paint. Jordan St. Charles is one of the top scoring forwards in the state, he can score at will from the 3. Zach Wedesky is a great guard, he knows how to shoot, pass, and keep the offense flowing. And Dylan Zimmerman, He’s not varsity yet but he’s got potential. He’s a 6’4 sophomore Center that can dribble, shoot, post up, and hit the occasional 3 and recently had a 31 points with 10 assists and 17 rebounds against lakewood. these kids all deserve a chance. you should look at a few of them

  • Any word on Cole Darling’s plans for next year?

  • Romel morgan I hear is trasnferring to Goodrich for his senior yr! This kid has talent,, nobody recognized em this yr but he lead his league with 47 threes this yr and avg 12. ppg

    • what can you tell us about Romel Morgan? Goodrich has quite a bit coming back, so it would be interesting to see where he fits in.

      • Not really,,not to mention Goodrich’s starting 5 were all seniors,,except 1, which is carter goetz…Romel is too talented to be at lakeville, he’s a flatout shooter,,could improve on ball handling,,very athletic though. He could start for Goodrich trust me,he’s better than most of the boys in his class that plays for Goodrich now…As i repeat, had a very good yr to play on a crappy team..finished with a quiet 219 pts.,(47 threes),avg 4.9 assist,, he would be good for the 2 spot at Goodrich

      • well if he is the real deal no doubt he will get his chances. Just to correct you though the 2 spot at Goodrich is Nathan Lansgaard a sophomore who started this year. He averaged around 20 points a game the second half of the season, including 20 against Powers. Goodrich had a deep bench of young guys and their JV was 19-1. But like I say if he can play he will get his chances!

      • Lansgaard sophmore? admit ya got me there…well if anything gary barns would have to let Morgan run the 3 which he did for lakeville high prolly due to his height of 6’2..yes goodrich did have a solid bench but the only player returning possible that would actually start would be trevor lucas in my opinion..Morgan no doubt is better than the players that sat the bench for goodrich last year…But we’ll see what happens with the upcomin jv also..Still though,no comparison with morgan..he would have to start the 2 or the 3…STARTERS NXT YEAR TO ME WOULD BE: GOETZ,MORGAN, LANSGAARD,LUCAS,, AND MOVE UP A BIG BODY FROM JV!

      • who is romeel morgan? he played for lakeville?! he cant be any good

  • DO YOU THINK THAT DURRIKEO HOLMES SHOULD BE A STARTER OVER THE LITTLE GUY SLATE OR JUST COME OFF THE BENCH?

    • I think he’s good enough to start! But then Beecher stuns alot of ppl by bringing him in as their secret weapon off the bench..good thought

  • dont shoot yessss

what are some flint area college signings havent heard alot

  • Last question, now seing that he is a floor general and the tempo of the game speed up when he checks in should morris be the one or should holmes be it? I see that when holmes play the one and morris goes to the two or three a lot of pressure is off of him and he get greater shots than he do playing the point. Plus holmes is a pure point, morris scores at will.

  • The hottest transfers so far i hear are: Quinn langston from flint hamady maybe to Powers??…Dominez Burnett from flint hamady even to Powers???….Romel Morgan from lakeville to Goodrich…Joe Gagnon from Mt.morris to Goodrich???

    • well Goodrich seems to be doing pretty well over the last few years with the transfer sweepstakes… Vallie (GB) last year and Colin Angle and Laferny from Davison a couple of years back. It does prove the schools that are winning, typically have kids coming in and aren’t necessarily “Home grown”. Though they aren’t private, they are a good school and may be taking some kids that can save the $$$ compared to a Powers.

      • You are totally right about that sir…they both will always have good programs….Goodrich will be stacked nxt yr…in that favor,,,and so will powers

    • It Ain't Right

      i heard Burnett to Goodrich

  • If you hadnt seen the kid play I wouldn’t be sayin to muchh….we all know he playedd for a crappy school..you put somewhere like a powers, goodrich,or n-dub he’d easily be heard of..once kid avg 14 ppg and led his conference in 3′s ..Lakeville is not a basketball reconized school

  • hamady sucks at everything

  • lol they just dont have true competition ..which they would lose too most flint schools if they did……..except girls basketball

  • If true….WOW!

  • Stitt Didnt Move To Atlanta He Currently Attends Flushing High School He Most Def. Was One Of There Best Talents But Under Coach Brady He Never Got Tht Chance To Show His Potenial I Mean He Was Once Rank #9 In His Class Tht had To Mean Something

  • LOL thats even worsee….we haven’t heard nothing!
