Taron Boose transferred from Beecher to Saginaw High.

Every season there are numerous transfers that do little to change the overall complexion of the season. Then there are the impact transfers: Players who can turn average teams in contenders and contenders into world-beaters.

Soon we’ll have a more comprehensive list, but here are a few from mid-Michigan to tide you over.

Taron Boose (6-2 senior forward) from Flint Beecher to Saginaw High: It was Boose’s transfer to Saginaw and his appearance on the football team that forced the Trojans to forfeit three wins this season. He has been an impact player at Buctown since he was a freshman and it’s somewhat disappointing to see him leave. He’s a tough-nosed, undersized rebounder and scorer. Big-league hops.

Mitchel Vallie (6-4 senior forward) from Grand Blanc to Goodrich: Vallie is a very good all-around player that can score in the post and from the wing. I hope he had a really good reason to leave Grand Blanc. That team is loaded.

Rick Dent (6-0 senior guard) from Flint Southwestern to Flint Northern: Emerged in the second half of 2009 to become one of the top players in Flint. Dent is a terror going to the basket and gets buckets in bulk.

Joemar Black (6-3 senior guard) from Flint Northern to Mount Zion (North Carolina): Flint Northern loses its best athlete to Mount Zion, the prep school that Tracy McGrady made famous.

Thomas Lovachis, (6-2 senior guard) from Stockbridge to Holly: A tough, athletic and defense-minded guard who will be among the top guards in the Flint-area this season and, arguably, the top player in the Metro League.

Javontae Hawkins (6-4 sophomore wing) from Flint Beecher to Flint Powers: This, in truth, is probably the most meaningful transfer on this list. Hawkins will be the best player in Flint by the time he’s a senior, if not before. Great talent with the desire to reach his potential. Another major loss for Buctown.

  1. HoopStar says:

Brandon Hill Junior guard transfer from Flint Northern to Grand Blanc, A good pick up for the Bobcats, Hill has great potential a good guard who can drive to the hole and make the extra pass to a teammate for the assist.

  2. Trever says:

It’s kind of sad to see boose leave Beecher. I have played against him and had the pleasure to guard him in 2 district games as well as some games over his career through out the summer. He’s a strong kid who pretty much rebounded whenever he wanted to. Hopefully he can fix the elgible problem in Saginaw because at any conference regardless of what class, he will be a tough player to prepare against.
