Five for fighting: Who would win in this fictitious matchup between High and Hill?

Coming off Saturday’s hard-fought win for Saginaw Arthur Hill over rival Saginaw High, let’s consider the rivalry in recent years.

Let’s just say we took what we consider to be the five best position players from Saginaw Arthur Hill and Saginaw High over the past five seasons and put them up against one another.

What would be the outcome?

This rivalry is among the state’s best, and I’m sure this battle would go right down to the final horn.

Here are the lineups:

Saginaw High

G – Daniel West
G – Bobby Lewis
G – Larry Wright
F – Draymond Green
C – Josh Southern

Saginaw Arthur Hill

G- Maurice Jones
G – Tommie Prater
G – Latreze Mushatt
F – Dar Tucker
C – Antione Lundy

Prediction: The Tucker and Jones combo alone would be worth the price of admission, but that Saginaw High lineup is just too big and talented. They’d have the two best big men (Southern and Green) as well as the best defensive player (Lewis). Give me the High.

Maybe a better gauge would be this:

State Titles: Saginaw 2, Arthur Hill 1

– Jared Field
