Never ‘ever’ (again): Pershing’s Appling tough talks Southeastern after win

Posted: January 6, 2010 by Jared Field in High School

You have to respect Keith Appling’s ability to score the ball. That much is clear.

On Tuesday afternoon (trust me, I wanted to be at this game, but I have a job) Appling scored 26 as the Dougboys were resurrected in the fourth quarter and beat rival Southeastern by 10.

After the game, the future Spartan stuck his foot in his mouth in an article written by Freep’s Mick McCabe:

Appling took care of the rest, adding seven steals and dominating a game like few guards are capable of doing. In the process he may have sent a message to Pershing’s main rival.

“Southeastern will never ever be ready for the Pershing Doughboys,” he said. “Ever.”

But didn’t Southeastern hand Pershing its only loss last season?

“That was a fluke,” Appling insisted. “Let’s not dwell on the past. Let’s focus on the future.”

Just a hunch, but I think Tom Izzo will coach that twisted logic right out of him.

Damn that’s a bold statement. I kinda like it lol but at the same time you don’t need to give your opponents any more motivation than they already have…

I love it that whats basketball is missing. Nothing is wrong with speaking your mind. If you dont like it then win the game!
