Best backcourts in the Flint-area: Pick ’em

Posted: January 23, 2010 by Jared Field in High School

This is an interesting read from Hotbed Hoops on the best Flint-area backcourts.

The top two seem obvious: Jaylen Magee and Dre Parks at Northwestern and Demarco Sanders and Patrick Lucas-Perry at Powers.

More fun, perhaps, is talking about the future Flint has in the backcourt with guys like Denzel Watts, Monte Morris and Richmond Lewis.

He also mentions Northern senior forward Gerald Williams-Taylor as being among the most underrated players in the Flint-area. I couldn’t agree more. He’s extremely smooth with the ball and is sneaky athletic.

If he’s not the most underrated, he is certainly the most improved.

  1. An example on why Williams-Taylor is either most underrated or most improved is simply that he fills the stat sheet. Look at his two games this week. @NW- 11 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals 3 assists, vs. SWA- 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, 4 assists, 4 blocks, all while primarily playing the SF position.

  2. Garret says:

What about Grand Blanc back court. Sophomore Jordan Fields and Senior Marcus Tucker.

  3. Billy Joe says:

Wat about Swa backcourt with Jojuan Graham, Chuck Mc Claurin, and Josh Young???

  4. I would personally have them ranked about 8-9. That would be with either Young or McLauren paired with Graham. If you get into trios, then NW is still at the top with Mitchell added in, but Northern would then climb the ladder as you add in Williams-Taylor. Adding O’Brien to the Powers group makes them at least 2, and on and on.

  5. coach says:

    1.LP-Sanders
    2.Magee-Parks
    3.Cosey-Watts

  6. Greg says:

    1.PLP-Sanders (Powers)
    2. Magee-Parks (NW)
    3.Fields-Tucker (GB)
