He’s good, man: Is George Goodman the best junior guard in Mid-Michigan?

Posted: February 13, 2010 by Jared Field in High School

Saginaw Buena Vista’s junior guard George Goodman made a pretty good case last night that he, and not some of his “big-name” counterparts, might just be the best guard in Mid-Michigan’s junior class.

Last night Goodman poured in 35 points in a loss to Flint Carman-Ainsworth. They had nothing for him. He’s just too quick and crafty.

But is he better than, oh I don’t know, Flint Northern’s Shaq Smith or Powers’ Patrick Lucas-Perry? What about Northwestern’s Jaylen Magee?

He’s small, true, but so are those guys.

What say you?

Goodman had 18 out of his teams 28 in the forth . He is the best Point Guard i have seen all season During the 4th at one point Goodman and Glen Cosey traded baskets Cosey had 14 in the forth. Though it was not a very good night for the crew of Refs who called 4 t’s during game

  2. I would have to see him in person first, but you don’t score 35 unless you have mad skills.

Jaylen Magee is da best junior guard in the state. he continues to work on his game and gets better every day. his only problem is himself. whenever he gets that killer instinct and attacks… EVERY time a defender approaches, watch out! And dont sleep on his guy, Deandre Parks… they could easily be da best backcourt in the state next year with both able to put up a combined 50-60 pts. on any given night…

hb you know yourself that jaylen magee is no where the best guard in the state he can’t do nothing with george goodman. george can play some ball and you know it. deandre parks no good. and the ref. gave them that game.

  4. […] The game of the night in Mid-Michigan featured a guard showdown that won’t soon be forgotten. Class A Okemos, at home, defeated class C Saginaw Buena Vista by three in overtime. Okemos’ top guard, Chris Harrison-Docks, scored 32 points in the victory. His counterpart, BV’s George Goodman, scored 33 before having to leave the game with two minutes left with a cramp. Harrison-Docks is a surefire mid-major D-1 guard while some see Goodman as a shooting guard in a point guard’s body. Anyone who can score like Goodman will get an opportunity at the next level. (Last season we wondered aloud if GG was the best junior guard in Mid-Michigan.) […]
