Demetrius “Meechie” Miller, the starting point guard for the no. 2 ranked Mott Community College Bears, was featured on Friday in the Flint Journal.

Miller, who led the City Series in scoring as a senior at Flint Central, has started most of the season for Mott at point guard and has emerged as one of the team’s top stoppers.

Miller helped guide Mott to an eight-point victory over St. Clair on the road Saturday. Bears led by six at the half and by as many as 17 in the second half before a late charge by the Skippers cut the lead to six in the final minute.

Mott is now 23-3 on the season and preparing for the last home game of the season on Monday night versus Oakland.

The Raiders are flying high after a mid-season slump and will meet the Bears coming off a huge win over no. 3-ranked Henry Ford on Saturday.

Mott’s scoring leaders:

Freshman Doug Anderson: 15 ppg

Freshman Mike Brigham: 14 ppg

Sophomore Bobby Lewis: 11 ppg

Sophomore Torian Oglesby: 11 ppg

Congrats on a great game for Meechie, too! Super kid! One of my all-time, favorite kids I have taught.

  2. Murph says:

What level do you think Meetchie will play college ball?

    • Jared Field says:

Assuming he continues to progress, I could see him as a MAC-level point guard after two years at Mott. He has really improved in every aspect of the game, especially defense. He’s a lot stronger now, too.
