District day one: Some big performances from Monday

Posted: March 9, 2010 by Jared Field in High School

Senior Trey Zeigler led Mt. Pleasant to a win over Midland Dow with 34 points and 11 rebounds.

Junior LaDontae “Buckets” Henton had 31 points and 13 rebounds for Lansing Eastern in a win over East Lansing.

Burton Bentley’s senior point guard Joey Jerisk, the Flint area’s scoring champion, poured in 30 points in a win over Burton Bendle.

Senior Zach Wedesky had 26 points for Fowlerville in a win over Stockbridge.

Mr. Basketball candidate Maurice Jones had 26 points in Arthur Hill’s win over Flushing.

Senior Deandre Johnson led New Lothrop over SASA with 26 points.

Junior George Goodman had 26 points for Saginaw Buena Vista in a win over Montrose. Senior Dedo Jackson added 12 points and 14 assists.

Senior Dee Chapman led Carman-Ainsworth with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Grand Blanc.

Juniors Jaylen Magee and Deandre Parks combined for 43 points in Flint Northwestern’s win over Kearsley.

Senior A.J. Thomas had 19 points and five assists for Saginaw Heritage in a win over Owosso.

  1. Chapman was good obviously, but Denzel Watts was clutch vs. GB. He had four buckets in the second half that directly answered Grand Blanc runs and a huge steal/layup late when GB could’ve cut the lead to one.

  2. Also sounds like Powers’ Vince Adams 4 points in the third gave Powers the and effectively changed the momentum. That’s the great thing about one and done games because it doesn’t take 20-30 points to have a big game. Also, some of the aforementioned games were against teams that most of us could still score 30 on. Tomorrow it starts getting more interesting.
