Saginaw Heritage guard A.J. Thomas commits to Delta College

Posted: May 7, 2010 by Jared Field in College, High School

This is a recruiting coup in my world.

Delta College snatched up Saginaw Heritage point guard A.J. Thomas on Thursday. He has the potential to be the best guard the Pioneers have had in many years. Thomas, at about 5-9, is crafty with the ball and attacks the basket at speeds approaching Mach 1. He’s a tough cover if there ever was one. Delta, at least since I’ve been covering JUCO basketball, hasn’t had a guard at his level, talent-wise.

He is Delta’s first commitment for the 2010-11 season. His high school teammate, 6-4 forward James Johnson, recently signed with Jackson Community College. Chris Jones, Heritage’s shooter, will be attending Kirtland CC in northern Michigan.

More on JUCO signings, including Mott, in the coming days. Stay tuned.

What’s the latest recruiting news on Mott’s Bobby Lewis? What about some of the other area juco players…Shane Moreland, Tyrie Wooten, and Daniel West?
