Anatomy of a Program: June 5 Coaching Symposium featured in Flint Journal

Here’s a feature story from the Flint Journal re: the GLH-sponsored Anatomy of a Program coaching symposium on June 5 at the Cage in Swartz Creek.

From the Journal:

Grand Blanc’s coach, Chris Belcher, will talk about the need to know and adjust to personnel each season, creating new schmes and ways to maximize their effectiveness. This year’s team at Grand Blanc is a great example of adjusting on the fly — four talented starters from last year didn’t return for their senior seasons, either transferring or sitting out to focus on other sports.

Still, the Bobcats changed their philosophy and schemes slightly and remained one of the best teams in the area.

“You don’t recruit kids to fit a system in high school, you have to play with who you have,” Belcher said. “I can use all four of the varsity teams I’ve had at Grand Blanc as examples — they all had different strengths and weaknesses and we had to do different things each year to get the most out of those.”
