Lapeer West’s Anthony Sisson commits to Henry Ford CC

LAPEER, Michigan — Flint Metro League standout guard Anthony Sisson (Lapeer West) has officially committed to play college basketball at one of the state’s top JUCOs, Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. As a senior at West, Sisson averaged 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals per game. He led the Panthers from range as well, hitting 36 triples. His 74 percent accuracy from the foul line also led the team.

Sisson is about 6-1 with the broad-shouldered frame of a power forward — he basically gets bigger and stronger every time I see him. I’ve watched him on numerous occasions, even when he wasn’t particularly skilled a couple years back, and been impressed with his guard potential. Physically he’s atypical for a high school guard.

It will, undoubtedly, take some time for him to adjust to the pace of play at the JUCO level. JUCO ball is all about foot speed, athleticism and stopping the ball. He will struggle at first, playing with guys the caliber of Sam Burton (Mott) and teammate Jamie Stewart, but if any Metro Leaguer can make the jump, it’s Sisson.
