A ‘Gore’ sighting: This Texas JUCO is loaded with Michigan talent

Ever heard of Lamar State College? Yeah, neither had I until I saw their roster, one that’s chock-full of Michigan talent:

Kavon Rose, Detroit Finney: Big-time guard who transferred out of TCU after originally committing to Oregon State out of high school. He is averaging 17 points, five assists and four rebounds per game.

Leviante “Gore” Davis, Flint Southwestern: Davis played a little at Grand Blanc before transferring back to Flint. He has the perfect build to be a major college defensive tackle but seems to love basketball. Would you be surprised if I told you that Gore actually leads the team in scoring (22 ppg)? Oh, and eight boards per game isn’t bad either.

Demetrius Ford, Detroit Cody: Little point guard with quicks. He’s not scoring, but he has averaged five assists per game this season.

Vonn Jones, Hartland: No guard in my recent memory fell off the recruiting map as far and fast as Jones who, as an underclassman, looked like a surefire division one point guard. He is averaging 10 points and six assists per game.

Keenan Coleman (Doyle), Flint Central and Patterson Prep: To be honest, prep school is an unusual route to the junior college ranks, but there he is. Coleman was always heralded as the next best thing in Flint, but never really had the mind for the game. He has tremendous talent, though, and probably has more potential than anyone on this team.
