Who in the heck is Brent Staffne?

It seems that the 67-37 win for Holly on Monday night against Lapeer basically went without notice. You’re probably wondering why I care about a Metro League blowout in the first place. Well, I don’t care that much … but it does perk my interest when a kid with a name I don’t recognize hits 8-for-10 from 3-point range.

6-1 senior Brent Staffne led all scorers with 28 for the Bronchos on opening night.

According to head coach Lance Baylis, Staffne is “an all-around, extremely coordinated, skilled guard that can also shoot the 3-ball.”

I think the latter is an understatement.

Another of Holly’s sharpshooters, senior Josh Fugate, added 16 in the game.
