Small ball: Top two scorers in Flint area face off tonight

The top two scorers in the Flint area will  square off tonight in a battle of former class D foes. Burton Genesee Christian, still class D, has had its share of great games with International Academy of Flint. Tonight, the rivalry game will match Darius Wilson, the Flint area’s scoring leader, against Justin Denney, the silver medalist thus far.

And, in a strange twist, IAF’s coach, Tim Tenneriello, actually played in some of those rivalry games. The weird part is that he played for GCS. I’d have to check this out, but Tenneriello has to be the youngest head coach in Michigan.

The game starts at 7 p.m. at GCS.

I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am to see Darius atop the Flint-area scorers. Darius is an outstanding young man with a tremendous work ethic.
