Matt Costello and BCW roll into final four

He did it again. Bay City Western’s 6-9 big man Matt Costello dismantled the opposition tonight in a win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.

BCW is quickly turning into the Cinderella story of this year’s playoffs.

From The Oakland Press:

Tom Izzo might not have many reasons to smile this past season with his Michigan State basketball team, but he sure had plenty of reason to flash a wide grin on Tuesday.

In attendance at a Class A state boys basketball quarterfinal game between Bay City Western and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, Izzo was on hand mainly to see 6-foot-9 Western junior Matt Costello, who has already verbally committed to play for the Spartans.

Evidently, Costello was fully intent on impressing his future college coach.

Dominating on both ends of the floor, Costello accumulated 31 points and 14 rebounds to lead Western to a 60-49 win over the Eaglets.
