Setting the record straight: Mott’s Doug Anderson not committed to Duquesne

For some reason The Flint Journal reported today that Anderson had committed to Duquesne University citing news accounts now two weeks old. Anderson is not committed to Duquesne and his recruitment is 100% open. The Journal corrected the original story about an hour later.

The report of his commitment was originally reported in the Pittsburgh News-Tribune and picked up by other outlets including Rivals and GLH. Ray Mernagh, an acquaintance of mine in the Pittsburgh area, officially set the record straight on Oct. 29. Heck, Anderson’s own mother denied the report on this site on Nov. 1.

She wrote:

Upset because he never committed, he hasn’t started his season yet. His academics are great. We are upset because of how some are trying to recruit my son. Just let him play and decide after the season where he wants to go. Thank You.

Again, Anderson’s recruitment is wide open; Duquesne is still in the running, but I do not expect him to commit until after the season Anderson had 26 points in Mott’s opening-season victory over Jackson.
